Jack Petchey Awards Ceremony

Jack Petchey Awards
This weekend I am part of the 114 Squadron Marching Band who are opening up the Jack Petchey Awards Evening with the ATC.
Now you're probably wondering what on earth am I talking about? What is a 'Jack Petchey Award'?
Here's a little information on this award...........see this website for more details:
Established in 1999, The Jack Petchey Foundation gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25.
The Foundation exists to raise the aspirations of young people, to help them take advantage of opportunities and play a full part in society.
The major focus of their work is the Achievement Award Scheme - you can read about this along with their other programmes in the 'Major Programmes' tab.
The Foundation focuses on London and Essex.
Jack Petchey
Jack Petchey is one of the UK's most successful businessmen. Born in East London in July 1925, Jack came from a working class background with very few advantages. From an early age he showed the entrepreneurial skills that have aided his success.

In 1937 a 12-year-old Jack was prosecuted at East Ham Magistrates Court for working under age. The prosecution evidence was that Jack was carrying vegetables, i.e. tomatoes, the defence being that tomatoes were a fruit - not a vegetable. The case was dismissed!
For more information please visit the Jack Petchey website for more information on this award and how to be a part of it.
Thanks go to The Jack Petchey Award Foundation for their information and use of their website.
