Remembrance Day

Today is the day we mark and remember all of those who have died and suffered in wars and conflicts. We remember those who have served our country and those who continue to serve us still in the Armed Forces. We must be grateful for what they gave and continue to give so that we may live the way we do. The only sorrow is that there continues to be conflict in many parts of the world today, and many people who have given their lives for us.

We remember those who gave their today for our tomorrow.

We will remember them.

For the Fallen

Poem by Robert Laurence Binyon (1869-1943), published in The Times newspaper on 21st September 1914.

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,

England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Student Troubles

One of the many troubles a student may go through is the impossible decision of what to eat and if you have the energy or motivation to cook. Ultimately it will boil down to something quick, easy, and unhealthy. If you have the money (a rare occurrence) you'll order a takeaway. Whether it be pizza, chinese food, or a cheeky Nandos. But it's the impossible choice of what to eat that makes it difficult.

This is the choice that plagues me when I'm tired, hungry, simply cannot be bothered to cook, or all of the above! Why is it so hard to choose? I suppose when you're hungry you'll want to eat anything in sight or you just don't want anything in particular as it doesn't take your fancy.

For these days that happen all too often, I suggest some pre-made food that can be kept in the freezer  or in a cupboard so all you'd have to do is heat up! All the effort on a day you have the energy to be productive put to use on a day you don't have any energy.

If you have any experiences, recipes or ideas you'd like to share then please leave a comment below!

Have a lovely day! :)

3 Years?!

Wow! It's been over 3 years since I last posted on this blog!

So much has happened in that time. I managed to get into university to study Nutrition. I met some awesome people and some not so awesome people. I've met people who I thought were friends of mine and now I no longer consider them to be.

I am going to try to keep up to date on this blog, posting about my life and sharing things I've learned and think are interesting, as well as sharing things that I think should be shared!

So share, comment and join me in my life while I attempt to keep on top of it :D
